Jalalabad (BNA) A large consignment of explosives allegedly intended to be delivered to terrorist groups was discovered in eastern Afghanistan.
The consignment was discovered and seized late yesterday during national security operation in suburbs of Kuzkunar district.
A man has been arrested in connection with the shipment.
The detainee reportedly skillfully planted explosives in the heart of a truck.
Ataullah Khogyani, spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar, told BNA that 1,700 kilograms of explosives were recovered from the shipment.
He said nothing the explosives belonged to which terrorist group in Afghanistan.
Terrorist groups obtain most of their explosives from Pakistan and make bombs, mines and suicide vests and use it in their attacks in Afghanistan.
