Meeting Held to Support Presidential Term Extension

Kabul (BNA)  A meeting, attended by a number of civil society activists, politicians and religious scholars the other day, announced their support for continuation of president’s work until holding the upcoming presidential election.
Nearly 300 people, including members of Sada-e-Hamwatan director, Mawlana Habiburrahman Elmi, Fikr-e-Tolana, Al-Haj Ziarmal Foundation, Dawatgaran Association, the People Union Council of Afghanistan, in a get together organized at the conference hall of Zirmal Foundation in Shahre-e-Naw of Kabul expressed their support to the extension of the presidential work until holding the presidential election.
The speakers of the conference, Mawlavi Abdul Hadi Hedayat and Dr. Abdul Hadi Quraishi said the presidential office term should be extended until the process of the presidential election was held in order to avoid power vacuum which would lead to chaos and disorder in the country.
The extension of the term of the president was based on the country’s constitution article 61, according to a five-article statement read out by the members at the end of the conference.
