Kabul (BNA) Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, a reporting meeting of the Ministry of Finance on fighting corruption was held at the Presidential Palace on Sunday. At the outset, the Ministry of Finance officials shared technical plan with the president on how to fight corruption and implement reforms, the Presidential Press Office said in a statement received by The Kabul Times.
They said the ministry’s plan was based on six fields; budget, commitments, procurement, contracts management, payments and audits, the statement said.
The country’s president, then, said that a clear description should be created for the people on the transparency and effectiveness of the government’s programs and generally, the process of fighting corruption and on how to use the resources available to the government, in a transparent and effective manner, the statement added.
The Ministry of Finance has the support of the government leadership and the cooperation of other departments in the fight against corruption and the implementation of reforms, the statement quoted the president as saying.
The President also spoke about the plan of the Ministry of Finance during a separate meeting with the ministry’s officials and a number of other independent ministries and departments. At the meeting, it was discussed about bringing reforms in the expenditures, more cooperation between the relevant departments, revision and necessary accuracy on the budget expenditures, and preparation for the mid-year and next-year budgets.
This was also emphasized that offices whose projects have not yet started will have their budget allocated for other applicable programs.
