Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Signs Nephrite Mine with Sultanzoy Company

Kabul (BNA) Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum has signed the contract of Nephrite mine with Sultanzoy Company in Goshta district, eastern Nangarhar province late on Saturday.
The mine is located on 21 hectares of land and each ton of nephrite worth 1 million 50 thousand Afghanis has been contracted with the company.
According to this contract, Sultanzoy Company will invest in this mine for 5 years.
The contract of Nephrite Company was bid among three companies (Sultanzoy, Korelars and Sky Aria), in which Sultanzoy Company won the contract.
It is worth mentioning that previously, one ton of nephrite was contracted for 110,000 Afghanis.
Nephrite is a soft, fibrous crystal that’s most popularly used in carvings, jewelry, and decor.
Based on reports, nephrite mines can be found in Kabul, Parwan-Salang, Badakhshan, Bamiyan and some other provinces.
