Ministry Reports 1,843 New COVID-19 Cases, 257 Recoveries in Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Public Health reported 1,843 positive cases of COVID-19 out of 5,044 samples tested in the last twenty-four hours. According to the ministry, 37% of the collected samples tested positive for COVID-19.

“A total of 5,044 samples were taken in the past 24 hours from all over Afghanistan, out of which 1,844 cases were identified positive for COVID-19,” the ministry said in a statement.

The report also suggests that 51 people have died in Afghanistan as a result of the Coronavirus in the past 24 hours and 257 other recovered.

The ministry says that the total known COVID-19 cases is 85,893, and the total number of reported deaths is 3,356.

Meanwhile ground figures showing that a large number of the Afghan population is infected with the Coronavirus and that of the reports by the Ministry of Public Health does not represent a comprehensive study, seemingly the real number of cases is much higher in Afghanistan.
