MoU of $800 Million Gratis Aid Signed

Kabul (BNA) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of new development cooperation encompassing 800 $ million gratis aid of US for Afghanistan was signed yesterday here in Kabul.
Based on the agreement, US will provide annually $200 million directly to government budget and will be spent in consideration to priorities of Afghanistan government.
MoU of the new development cooperation between the two countries was signed by minister of finance Ekleel Hakimi, US ambassador to Kabul Michael McKinley and USAID chairman to Afghanistan and with participation of deputy minister of foreign affairs Hekmat Khalil Karzai and Afghanistan ambassador to Washington Dr. Hamdullah Muhib.
Signing the agreement is showing the importance of strategic relations between Afghanistan and US and the beginner of new chapter of development cooperation between the two countries.
Praising US for its assistance to the people of Afghanistan, minister of finance Ekleel Hakimi considered the cooperation as start of new chapter in development cooperation.
It is worth mentioning that vision of the new development cooperation framework between the two countries was discussed and agreed between US President and Afghanistan President during recent visit of the country’s President to the US.
