Nab, Iranian Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Ties

Kabul (BNA) Deputy Political Minister of Foreign Affairs Ministry, Mirwais Nab met with Bahador Aminian, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kabul, and both sides discussed recent developments in the Afghan peace process and the strengthening of bilateral relations, according to a MoFA statement.

The Deputy Foreign Minister appreciated Iran’s cooperation in strengthening the regional consensus to support the Afghan peace process. While pointing to the recent developments in the Afghan peace process and announcing the withdrawal of NATO forces from the country, Nab clarified the beginning of a new chapter in security, political and development cooperation between Afghanistan and the international community and hinted at expanded bilateral cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran.

The Iranian ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing comprehensive cooperation with Afghanistan, especially for the success of peace talks and the preservation of the constitution and the achievements of the next two decades.

Both sides also discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, especially the holding of a meeting of the Joint Economic Committee and the implementation of development projects aimed at raising the level of trade relations and strengthening political, cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries.
