NATO’s Stoltenberg Reaffirms Commitments for ANDSF

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a phone conversation with Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO Secretary General late on Monday, discussed the Afghan peace process and NATO’s continued support for Afghanistan Defense and Security forces.

Jens Stoltenberg said NATO remains committed to supporting the Afghan Defense and Security forces and continues its mission to train, advice and assist the forces, according to a presidential press office statement.

The conversation comes as President praised the valor, commitment, and high morale of ANDSF officers in Takhar province during a phone talk.

The soldiers on the front lines expressed gratitude to the President and said: “we are indebted to defend our homeland and protect it to the last drop of our blood in any conditions”.

They also said that good coordination in the first line has given them the upper hand.

In another phone talks, President Ghani praised the valor and commitment of the female police officers in Nangarhar province. “Special attention is paid to the promotion of ranks and necessary instructions were given to the relevant officials to address the settlement problem of female police officers,” added the President.

President Ghani said, “I have spoken face–to–face with lieutenants, soldiers, and officers of all military corps”. Requests and recommendations of ANDSF forces will be considered, and the relevant authorities for facilitating good coordination on the front lines will be commended, he added.
