Nearly One Hundred Armed Taliban Killed in Anti-Terror Operation in Helmand

Lashkargah (BNA) As anti-terror operations continue in parts of Helmand, senior military officials say heavy casualties have been inflicted on Taliban affiliates.
According to the statistics provided, overnight in Helmand, nearly one hundred armed Taliban, including the two senior commanders of the group, were killed and dozens of other fighters were wounded.
Several Pakistani Taliban fighters are also said to have been killed and wounded.
BNA correspondent quoted local sources as saying that the outskirts of Lashkargah, Marjah, Nawa and Nahr-e-Saraj districts had witnessed the heaviest fighting between the security and Taliban-affiliated militants overnight.
Senior Atal Army Corps official in south of the country confirmed that nearly 100 Taliban insurgents had been killed and 34 others wounded during a recent overnight anti-terror operation in Helmand.
Statistics show that in the last ten days of the Taliban offensive in Helmand, at least 400 Taliban members, including foreign commanders and fighters, have been killed and dozens more wounded or captured.
Senior military officials say ground and air strikes by the military in Helmand have defeated the Taliban, with insurgents fleeing to neighboring provinces or Pakistan.
The armed Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
