NSA Mohib, German Officials Discuss Military Cooperation

Kabul (BNA) National Security Advisor (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib, during his visit to Germany, met government officials on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference and discussed bilateral ties and the Afghan peace process, a statement from National Security Council Press Office said.
NSA Mohib met with German Federal Minister of Interior, spokesman for the ruling CDU political party, deputy chairman of the ruling party's parliamentary committee on foreign and defense affairs, members of the foreign parliamentary committee, foreign policy spokesman of the Social Democratic Party and minister of Foreign Affairs of the German Federal Government.
German officials assured NSA Mohib of their continued training programs for the Afghan p.olice and its military cooperation with Afghanistan in the framework of the NATO mission, the statement added.
The statement quoting the officials said that German parliament would soon take a decision on a military presence in Afghanistan. The officials also assured NSA that would support peace parleys that could ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan and end the ongoing war in the country.
NSA Mohib also met Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction John Sopko and discussed with him steps the government had taken in the fight against corruption and implementation of security reforms.
The NSA also held separate meetings with leaders from the Netherland, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the NATO secretary general and US chief negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad.
