Police Checkpoint Targeted Suicide Attack in Kandahar

Kandahar (BNA) A security checkpoint in Kandahar was the target of a suicide attack this morning.
Initial reports said seven police officers were wounded in the attack. However, some sources reported the death of four police officers, including Allah Mirik, the senior police chef of the commando force.
A suicide bomber blew himself up in front of a police checkpoint in the Kohk area of Arghandab district, according to reports.
The Kandahar police press office said in a press release that seven police officers were injured in the blasts.
But a local source in Arghandab told BNA that four policemen and Allahu Mirik, the senior police chief of the force, were killed and six others were wounded in the blast.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming heavy casualties.
