President Ghani Meets Commander of US General Command

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met yesterday with Gen. Kenneth Mckenzie, the Commander of the US General Command at presidential palace, BNA reported.
In the meeting, both sides discussed issues related to Afghanistan peace process, elections security and counter terrorism. Praising ANDSF for increasing combat capabilities, Gen. Mckenzie said that work of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in repulsing the spring operation of the Taliban group was appreciable, stressing on US continued cooperation with the ANDSF. President Ghani by praising the US for its commitments to cooperating with ANDSF and maintain security of Afghanistan elections said Afghan defense and security forces were fully ready to maintain the country’s presidential elections.
The country’s President said the Afghan defense and security forces would make further efforts towards maintaining security of the country’s presidential elections as they did during parliamentary elections. According to another report, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Norwegian Foreign Ministry’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan at presidential palace. In the meeting, President Ghani praised the Kingdom of Norway for its cooperation with Afghanistan in various fields. Both sides discussed role and support of Norway in Afghanistan peace process led and owned by Afghanistan government.
