President Ghani, Norwegian PM Discuss Expansion of Bilateral Relation

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani spoke by phone on Friday evening with Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway and discussed expansion of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in various areas, a statement from the presidential palace added.

Prime Minister Solberg expressed her concerns over escalation of violence in Afghanistan, while the two leaders underscored the need for a permanent ceasefire as the major demand of the entire Afghan nation and to preserve the values and achievements of the last two decades in peace negotiations, the statement further said.

President Ashraf Ghani had a phone conversation with Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada today evening.

The phone call comes after Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau expressed concern over escalation of violence in Afghanistan and underscored that his country will support the type of peace that ensures a sovereign and stable Afghanistan with a democratic government.

Canadian PM and Afghan president spoke over the phone the other day and both sides also exchanged views on the Conference of NATO Defense Ministers which is due to be held in February 2021 in Brussels.

Both sides highlighted that the conference should adopt a common and coherent policy towards Afghanistan for the peace talks to achieve the desirable outcome.
