President Ghani, Secretary Esper Discuss Security, War on Terror

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met US Defense Secretary Mark Esper here in his office on Sunday night, a presidential statement said, adding both sides discussed security issues, fighting terrorism and supporting the Afghan security forces.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed security issues in the country, the region and the world at large, the war on terror, financing and equipping the Afghan forces.
Esper extended deep condolences on behalf of the US over the deadly bomb blast in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province.  The visiting American dignitary also commended the successful conduct of the presidential ballot on September 28.
President Ghazni welcomed Esper and talked about efforts to banish administrative corruption and the measures his government had taken to improve governance.
Both sides discussed peace efforts and the regional situation, the statement from Presidential press office said.
