President Ghani Stresses Afghanistan’s Neutrality in National, Int’l Level

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani offered evening prayers with the leaders and representatives of the country’s political parties and spoke about the new chapter of cooperation with international community after the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, a presidential palace statement said.

During the meeting, the director general of the Administrative Office of the President and a number of political party leaders spoke about the withdrawal of international forces and the role of political parties in supporting the system and the security and defense forces, the role of women in reconciliation and government cooperation in all areas.

After listening to them, President Ghani referred to the creation of a new environment after the announcement of the withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan and said that the opportunities are far greater than the risks and after two decades “we will move towards strong national sovereignty.”

The President added: “The key point is that we must reach a national consensus and maintain Afghanistan’s neutrality at the regional and international level.”

At the end of his speech, President Ghani emphasized the continuation of consultations with the parties and said that now is the time for sacrifice and a national consensus cannot be created without the presence of women and youth.
