President Ghani Stresses Digital Ecosystem in Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, discussed the creation of a comprehensive approach to the development of digital infrastructures in Afghanistan in a meeting with Siemens officials on Tuesday, a presidential palace statement said yesterday.

During a video conference with Siemens officials, the president said that he wanted to create a digital ecosystem that could cover the three components of governance, society and the economy.

The president added that the first key point was how to build systems together and create a single network, and that network should be connected to a large network (Super Network).

The president also stressed the importance of distance education and digital services, saying “we want to know more about taking the right approach to developing digital infrastructure in Afghanistan and connecting to a large network.”

Meanwhile Siemens officials spoke about the impact of digitalization on transparency and productivity, their experiences in developing digital ecosystems in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, creating electronic systems, arranging digitalization strategies, and cybersecurity.

They also added that they will study the electronic processes and how to integrate them and will share the results with the president.
