President Karzai Meets British Chief of Defense Staff

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai met with General David Richards, British Chief of the Defense Staff to discuss issues of mutual interest, his office said Tuesday.
At the meeting held at the Presidential Palace, the two sides discussed the peace process in Afghanistan, and bilateral relations and cooperation between their countries beyond 2014, according to a statement released from the presidential press office.
The statement quoted President Karzai and the Chief of the Defense Staff to describe as successful the ongoing peace process in the country.
It was hoped that immediate and effective actions be taken to this end.
Both sides had talks on relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, urging for a close cooperation between the two nations against terrorism and radicalism.
Discussions were also made at the meeting on Afghanistan Pakistan-Britain next trilateral session, which was agreed to be held in the near future.
