Kabul (BNA) Russian ambassador to Afghanistan Alexander Mantytskiy
Called on second deputy to chief executive Hajji Mohammad Mohaqiq here yesterday and expressed his country’s willingness to ink security agreement with Afghanistan. During the meeting, the ambassador also briefed Mohaqiq on the assistance of his country to Afghanistan, saying Moscow had facilitated more than 300 Afghan security personnel to receive training in Russia since 2010 and soon would pave the ground for training personnel of interior ministry to that country.
The ambassador also noted that in line with agreement signed between US and Russia, Moscow would provide 63 helicopters MI-17 to Afghanistan besides training Afghan pilots.
Trade volume between Russian and Afghanistan had reached around $966m which speaks of boosting relations. Thanking Russia for its contribution, Mohaqiq said that the emergence of extremist outfit of the so-called Islamic State or Daesh in Syria, Iraq and its infiltration to Pakistan and Afghanistan expose threat to the world community and fighting the menace requires regional cooperation as well as the world cooperation.
