Kabul (BNA) A number of US lawmakers have stressed that sanctions against Afghanistan are not logical and should be lifted as soon as possible. They called upon President Biden’s administration, to immediately lift sanctions against Afghanistan due to increasing human catastrophe.
Lawmakers and human rights advocates in the United States believe that sanctions against war-torn Afghanistan have left millions of Afghans facing famine, if the United States continues its policy of economic sanctions against Afghanistan, civilian casualties in the coming year could be more than to 20 years war in that country. It should be noted that, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also emphasized for releasing the frozen assets of Afghanistan, and warned that if this is not done, the economic situation in this country will get out of control. China and Russia have also called on the United States to release its frozen assets.
