Tuesday, June 10, 2014
Kabul (BNA) Findings revealed that attacks by anti-state elements and insurgents would step up with the support of regional intelligence networks until the polling day scheduled for June 14, a statement by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Monday.
MoD Spokesperson Gen. Zahir Azimi told a news conference in Kabul that the first round of elections was a vital experience for security forces, especially Afghan National Army (ANA) to review its flaws and drawbacks. He said public support for security forces in April, 5 ballot contributed to keep the forces morale high and Afghans had continued that support for their forces in the runoff ballot. “We don’t take threats easy.
Information shows enemy will step up anti-state activities. The country’s security forces have the strength to thwart evil designs of the enemy of Afghanistan,” he added. Also in the conference the 111 division commander, Gen. Qadam Shah Shahim, said the central zone security team was working to overcome weakness points by keeping in view the first round of polls. Afghan forces were fully ready to maintain security during election in central zone and they would not allow anyone to disrupt the landmark process, he said.
