Taliban Attack Repulsed in Badakhshan

Faizabad (BNA) The Taliban offensive on the central Badakhshan city of Faizabad was repulsed last night.

Badakhshan governor’s spokesman Nik Mohammad Nazari told BNA that the armed Taliban launched their offensive from four directions on Faizabad city, which faced with heavy security forces resistance and fled the area with casualties.

Meanwhile, the commander of the 217th Pamir Corps, Ahmad Bashir Samim, governor of Badakhshan, and the provincial police chief, who are on the front lines of the battle, told the people of Badakhshan that they would not allow anyone to occupy the land.

Now the situation in Faizabad city has returned to normal.
