Taliban Insurgents Killed in Takhar Operation

Takhar (BNA) Twenty-nine Taliban insurgents were killed during a clearing operation in Bangi district of Takhar province.
Khalil Asir, spokesman for Takhar Police Command, told BNA that two days later, the armed Taliban launched a large-scale offensive on several security forces bases, which faced with sever resistance.
Meanwhile, Takhar Police Chief General Ikramuddin Sari said, in the clashes that took place between security troops and the armed Taliban in the past two days, twenty-nine Taliban militants were killed and eight others were wounded.
According to the source, in this operation, the villages of the district were cleared from Taliban and the relief operations in Bangi district continue.
Takhar police chief added armed Taliban launched a large-scale attack on security checkpoints in Baharak, Namak-e-Ab, Darqad and Yingi districts of Takhar last night, killing 12 Taliban and wounding 7 others.
Two civilians were killed and three others were wounded in the clashes, according to Sari.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
