Taliban Suffered Heavy Casualties in Pachiragam Operation

Jalalabad (BNA) As counterterrorism operations in Pachiragm Disgricgt, Nangarhar, continue, senior military officials have spoken of heavy casualties among the Taliban in the fighting.
The operation was launched yesterday with the participation of hundreds of troops and with the support of the Air Force, especially around Toure Bora, and is still ongoing.
A senior ANA official in the east told BNA that 23 Taliban insurgents, including several Pakistani fighters, were killed and 17 others wounded in the operation overnight.
Mullah Lotfur Rehman, known as Toofan, and Mawlawi Riyazullah, known as Haqqani, two senior Taliban commanders, were wounded in the operation.
The security forces says most Taliban have fled across the Durand Line from Pachiragam District, but security forces operations continue to clear the district from Taliban militants.
The Taliban, however, say they have inflicted heavy casualties on the military in the Pachiragam battles.
The operation was launched in Pachiragam, Nangarhar, where the Taliban have recently increased their presence and activities in the district.
