“Tax Week” Celebrated with Slogan “Our Tax, Our Country, Our Future”

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Finance yesterday celebrated “Tax Week” with slogan “Our Tax, Our Country, Our Future”

According to (BNA) Function held at Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy PM, Secretaries of Finance, Information and Culture, Industry and Trade, Economy, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Spokesmen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and officials and a number of governmental departments and national businessmen participated.

At First, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, deputy prime minister, emphasized the need to pay taxes on time, saying that the Afghans custom accounts for every Afganis they collect from taxpayers on a daily basis to the Ministry of Finance.

He added,  tax collection is a basic need for the establishment of a system and assured that the focus of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is more on transparency in tax collection.

Mawlavi Hanafi said, before the dominance of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) about $9 billion a year in Afghan taxes were wasted by government individuals, while no action work has been done.

Afterward, Al-Hajj Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Finance, spoke, saying that a strong, solid and orderly system requires a budget plan and that domestic revenues could make the country self-sufficient. He called on the people to pay their taxes on time to help strengthen and protect the system.

Later, Minister of Information and Culture, Mullah Khairullah Khairkhah, spoke about the value of taxes in establishing the system and said: “When a country is under pressure and economic sanctions, then the people of that country should try harder.” He called on all Afghans to work together day and night to use the pen to neutralize the enemy’s sanctions on the country and pave the way for the development of the country.

He added that Afghanistan would never be built on the money of others and called on the people to never believe in the propaganda of Afghanistan’s enemies.

Noureddine Azizi, acting Minister of Industry and Trade, Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, acting Minister of Economy, and Mawlawi Najibullah Haqqani, acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, as well spoke about the role of finance in establishing a system, respectively and stressed the transparency of tax collection.

They assured the people that their tax money is the treasury and will never be abuses and at the same time asked the people to pay their taxes on time.

Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture and spokesman of IEA, called the payment of taxes important for the country’s development and self-sufficiency and considered it as the backbone and factor of economic growth and development.
