Two Al-Qaeda Members Killed Along With Number of Taliban in Helmand

Lashkargah (BNA) Twenty-three insurgents and two al-Qaeda members were killed in the latest fighting in Helmand.

The slain al-Qaeda members are citizens of Punjab, Pakistan and the Indian subcontinent.

Senior Atal Corps official in south of the country told BNA that the two al-Qaeda operatives in Nahrsaraj district, along with Taliban insurgents, were carrying out terrorist activities that targeted by air and ground attack forces.

Senior military officials in Afghanistan have repeatedly spoken of al-Qaeda fighters alongside the Taliban, but the Taliban have denied any links to foreign terrorist groups.
