UoMS: confiscation of Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves by U.S is a deviation of human values

KABUL (BNA) The Union of Muslim Scholars (UoMS) has condemned the US President’s decision on confiscate Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves, calling it a deviation from human values.

According to BNA, The World Union of Muslim Scholars, based in Qatar, has said in response to US President Joe Biden’s decision to allocate $3.4 billion in assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan as compensation to the survivors’ of 9/11 victims, according to Arab News 21. Afghanistan’s frozen assets must be returned to the people of this country.

Calling on international organizations to oppose the decision, union said, the United States could work with the United Nations and aid agencies to use Afghanistan’s frozen money for the benefit of its people.

President Joe Biden on Friday signed an executive order, including $7 billion in frozen assets held in US banks, giving $3.5 billion to survivors of 9/11 and another $3.5 billion to Provides humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

The US President’s decision has met with strong national and international reactions.
