VP Danesh meets HIA Leader, Invites him to Kabul

Jalalabad (BNA)  Heading a high-level government delegation, Second Vice President Mohammad, Sarwar Danesh visited eastern Nangarhar province to attend a gathering held to welcome the leader of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan (HIA Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the Second VP office said in a statement.
According to the statement, addressing a gathering in Jalalabad city, Vice President Danesh said no one or group can rule in Afghanistan by violence and use of force.
He urged the Taliban and other terrorist groups to give up war and join-intra-Afghan talks to resolve the issues, the statement added.
Vice President Danesh also invited the leader of Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar to Kabul.
In the meantime, HIA leader Hekmatyar said his party joined peace process to rescue the country from the current situation and help in the development of Afghanistan, the statement went on to say.
HIA leader added that fighting is not an operation since no group or individual can achieve power through violence.
In other parts of his speech, Hekmatyar said Hezb-e-Islami party is committed to women’s rights in the light of the Islamic values and will work to defend the women right, the statement continued.  HIA leader, Hekmatyar arrived in Laghman province on Wednesday, months after a peace accord signed with the Afghan government.  The signing of the peace agreement also resulted in the exclusion of Hekmatyar’s name from the sanctions list of the United Nations Security Council, the statement added.
