391 US Military Facilities Handed Over To Afghan Forces, SIGAR

Kabul (BNA) As many as 391 military facilities costing $858 billion had been submitted to the Afghan forces since the beginning of 2011, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan’s Reconstruction (SIGAR) said.
Lauding the measure taken by the US in this respect, the Special Inspector, John Sepco said the facilities had been handed over to the ministries of defense and interior, as he believed the handover of the military facilities would lay positive impact in war on terror. Meanwhile, spokesman for the ministry of national defense, Daulat Waziri said that facilities submitted to the security forces of the country would strengthen them against insurgencies, assuring that the security forces would protect them well and use them when needed. A member of the house of people, Shekiba Hashemi said the Afghan security forces indicated their ability against insurgents and that they can fight and resist against the country’s enemies under any conditions since the last more than 14 years of the international community’s presence in the country, but unfortunately they are facing lack of equipment and sophisticated weaponries.
She said the US could do much in the past and required to do more in the future for the Afghan forces, so the ministries of defense and interior should properly use the facilities. Akram Andishmand, a military expert said the security forces should use the facilities properly as they would help them strengthened in war against militants effectively, but he expressed concern over what he warned lack of domestic facilities and equipment for the forces. He blamed the NATO member countries for failing to effectively pay attention to the Afghan forces’ well equipment and training, something he asked for a heed from the member countries.
The country’s security forces should be equipped and trained enough to fight terrorism after the foreign forces’ withdrawal from the country.
If the security forces of the country were equipped well, they would fight terrorism well in the past 14 years. He said he believed they seen a bright future for the country’s security forces’ abilities of fighting terrorism and they are expected and urged the government of national unity (NUG) to do more for the security forces in the future in the priority basis. Some Afghan citizens also ask the government for doing more in equipment of the security forces with modern and sophisticated weapons to help them overcome insecurities everywhere in the country. The country’s security forces are now launching all operations countrywide, but needed full equipment and training.
