Kabul (BNA) December third marked as international day of disabled across the world.
Afghanistan having about 800,000 disabled can use this opportunity to attract the international charity organization especially Afghan community to reduce the problems of this vulnerable group by offering proper assistance.
BNA social analyst who closely studies the life and situation of the disabled in our community writes, Disabled international day celebrates in Afghanistan in a time, according to the figures released by official sources, about 800,000 disabled are presently living in Afghanistan. This vulnerable group is facing numerous problems, such as poverty, unemployment, lack of access to health and education services. In addition, they suffer from a kind of social humiliation that keeps them away from social life. This will have grave consequences, which lead the disable people to be harsh and revengeful in social life.
The state and a number of charity organizations committed themselves to improve the life of disabled people and some articles of the constitution also clearly support the disabled, in spite of that they are still facing unaffordable problems that not only threat the life of disabled but the entire community.
Today most of the children who are involved in hard and dirty work are the sons and daughters of the disabled. These children deprived of going school, having no access to hygiene are going to work market to earn some money to rid their families at least from hunger, because they are only the breadwinner of the family.
Although, the relevant authorities repeatedly talking about measures and programs for reducing the problems of this vulnerable group, but remained on the paper and as propagation on media and so far had no any practical impact  in the life of disabled. If the government and charity organizations have initiated practical programs to help the disable to enjoy a better life, were limited to urban areas and the capitals of some provinces.
While, the official figures show the number of disable 800,000 in the country but without doubt, the increasing terrorist and suicide attacks, roadside bombs and finally the vast mine fields will further increase the figure, which is a matter of concern.
The experiences in the past indicate that the government and charity organization are not capable to settle the huge problem of the disabled, therefore, it is required the entire people to be organized to play their humane role to rid this vulnerable group from this humiliating situation.     T.
