Committee Oks EVAW As Separate Law

Kabul (BNA) The Cabinet’s Laws committee with the second Vice President on the chair held session here yesterday, BNA reported.
The session discussed governments of the firm printing secure documents as well as amendments to some articles of the law on evaluation of violence against women (EVAW) as well as amendments to item three of the article 916 of code of conduct.  Earlier the Afghan Women Network and other women supporting organization proposed to the government to consider and approve the law on elimination of violence against women separately from the code of conduct, which was accepted by the second vice present and instructed the Ministry of Justice to bring necessary amendments to the articles related to law on elimination of violence against women and the code of conduct, the BNA added.   Based on the articles of the law, the punishment predicted in the law on elimination of violence against women have been referred to code of conduct.  Based on the amendments to item three of the article 916 of the code of conduct, the law on elimination of violence against women has been exceptional from the articles 7th and 8th of the code of conduct and would remain independent, the agency added.
