Heavy Taliban Casualties in Helmand; Three Senior Commanders Killed

Lashkargah (BNA) Helmand witnessed the heaviest fighting between the security forces and individuals affiliated with the Taliban last night.

According to reports, 37 Taliban insurgents were killed and fourteen others were wounded.

The clashes followed after Taliban attack on security forces bases.

Senior Atal Corps official in the south of the country told the BNA that 37 militants were killed and 14 others wounded in the fighting.

Among those killed were Mullah Abdul Wali, known as Mujahideen in charge of the military commission.

The battles took place last night in Nawa district, where the Taliban wanted to seize a military base.

Security officials says several Pakistani members of the Taliban were also killed in the battles.
