President Ghani Vehemently Denounces Suicide Car Bomb Attack As A Coward Act

Tuesday December 29, 2015

Jalalabad (BNA) A suicide car bomb attack has killed at least one civilian as it targeted a convoy of foreign forces near Hamid Karzai International Airport, BNA reported.
At least 13 civilians were wounded in the attack, Kabul Police Chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi told reporters at the blast site. “As a result of the explosion one of our citizens was martyred and 13 others were wounded,” said Rahimi. Early reports had only four civilians wounded. The attack occurred near the eastern entrance of the airport. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, and said the target was a convoy of foreign forces. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani categorically condemned the suicide attack near Kabul airport yesterday morning that left a number of the citizens killed and injured. The president called the attack a barbaric act and said that peace talks would be not carried out with those groups killing our innocent people. “The government of Afghanistan will fight those who have not yet laid their guns down and still continue war against our nation”, the president said in a statement released by the presidential press office, adding that struggle will be continued until such groups completely be eliminated. The president also ordered relevant organs to take necessary steps in treatment of those injured in yesterday’s suicide attack. The blast follows a series of attacks this month claimed by Taliban insurgents, including an assault on a Spanish Embassy building and a suicide bombing near Bagram Air Base that killed six American troops last week. The attack also comes just one day after Pakistani Army chief General Raheel Sharif visited Kabul in an effort to restart peace talks between Afghan officials and the Taliban. Afghan forces are currently battling insurgents in fierce fighting in Helmand Province.
