Dr. Najmusma Shafajo: More than 2,000 health clinics have been closed in the country

KABUL (BNA) The Afghanistan Obstetrics and Gynecologists Association today held a “Symposium on Improving the Capacity of Obstetric and Gynecological Doctors”.
According to BNA reporter, a conference held in Kabul on the occasion, Dr. Najmusma Shafajo, President of the Afghanistan Obstetric and Gynecological Association, first spoke about the association’s activities, achievements, goals and plans.
Dr. Shafajo noted that after the transformation in the country and the cessation of global aid, especially the aid of the World Health Organization, 2,331 health clinics have been closed across the country and as a result, about 27,000 health workers have lost their jobs, including about 7 thousand of them are women.
He called on the Islamic Emirate, especially the Ministry of Public Health, to cooperate in providing scholarships to the association, and called on national and international institutions to help with the “Afghanistan Obstetric Doctors Association” fund.
Then, Dr. Nafiseh Sahak, Director of Fertility of the Ministry of Public Health, in her speech praised the activities and functions of the “Afghanistan Obstetric Doctors Association” and promised that the Ministry of Public Health is ready for any cooperation with the association and supports its programs.
Likewise, Dr. Mohammad Maroof Sameh, the founder of the Afghanistan Obstetrics and Gynecologists Association, thanked all the medics, especially obstetricians in the country, who are currently providing health services to the people.
During the program, Dr. Ahmad Shah Shakuhmand gave a presentation on “Medical Ethics” in which he addressed important issues such as the types of doctor relations, mutual respect, the principles of contemporary medical ethics, human dignity, how the doctor treats the patient and others. The cases were mentioned.
It’s mentionable that the “Afghanistan Obstetric Doctors Association” is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit association that has been operating in the country since 2002. The purpose of this association is to increase the capacity of obstetricians and reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in line with the policy of the Ministry of Public Health.
