Wednesday, September 16, 2020
Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan has won the membership of the United Nations (UN) Commission on Status of Women (CSW) for the term 2021-2025.
Afghanistan has been member of the UN since 1946 but this will be the first time the country will occupy a seat on this important commission.
Afghanistan’s permanent mission to the UN tweeted: “We are grateful to all members who recognised the strong leadership and empowerment that Afghan women have demonstrated in the rebuilding of their country.”
The mission also underlined the value that this experience could bring in the fight for justice and equality at the United Nations.
