Kabul (BNA) The country’s Ministry of Public Health has launched the first National Breast Cancer Symposium in Kabul, the ministry said in a statement Sunday.
The main aim of the symposium was to standardize breast cancer diagnostic and treatment services, in cooperation with the local and foreign specialists and a number of doctors from across the country, said the statement.
Dr. Fida Mohammad Paikan, the Deputy MoPH on Health Services said launching the symposium would help raise awareness about the breast cancer as lack of awareness on the symptoms of cancers, particularly of the breast cancer, among the mass is the main factor behind the growth of the cancer disease.
He called caner the second reason of mortality in the world and said: “Cancer is the second factor of death among those being affected after hearth attack in the world, as in 2018, more than 18 million have affected various kinds of cancers from which 10 million have lost their lives, worldwide.”
Some 40,000 people are currently suffering cancer illness, while 20,000 people were affected with the diseases, from which 15000 lost their lives in 2018.
This should be noted that the Ministry of Public Health has activated the cancer diagnostic and treatment care in Jamhuriat, Isteqlal, Indira Gandhi Children hospitals and created the cancer diagnostic sections within the Kabul central laboratories.
The ministry is also planned to establish two 10-bed healthcare centers for cancer diagnostic and treatment in current year.
