Kabul (BNA) Ahmad Zia Massoud the special envoy of president on reforms and good governance called for respecting women rights in society.
Addressing a conference to mark International Day on Elimination of violence against women, here the other day, Massoud pointed out that a society won’t develop until the rights of women ensured and respected.
Congratulating the day, the official said those who violate women rights, virtually acts against Islamic teaching and Islamic values.
Abusing women rights cannot be justified, Massoud said, adding women participation in social activities facilitates society to develop.
Indiscriminate treatment has been paid to women in the course of history, they have been oppressed, he said.
In Afghanistan even today women are suffering due to backward tradition, Massoud said, saying ensuring women rights and empowering women in society needs giving awareness on women rights and bringing development in society.
Minister for women affairs also spoke on the occasion.
