MoPH Reports Another 283 New Covid-19 Cases in Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Monday said 283 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected during the last 24 hours that saw 16 people dying from the infection.

According to the ministry, 1,300 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 283 people, pushing up the total number of cases in the country to 46,496.

Of the fresh cases, 35 were registered in Kabul, 34 in Herat, 33 in Balkh, 30 in Kandahar, 24 in Nangarhar, 24 in Ghazni, 14 in Paktia, 13 in Farah, 11 in Paktika, 11 in Nimroz, 10 in Zabul.

Nine new Covid-19 cases were surfaced in Takhar, eight in Baghlan, eight in Parwan, six in Kunduz, four in Helmand, four in Uruzgan, two in Daikundi, two in Panjsher and one in Baghlan.

At least 57 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, pushing up the number of recoveries to 36,788.

About 16 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total tally of deaths reached 1,779.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow its guidelines.
