Delegation Sent To Bagram Prison Reports To President Karzai On Findings

Kabul (BNA) The delegation which was assigned in the November 18 judicial meeting to find out about the progress on the implementation of the MoU signed on the transfer of all foreign-run prisons including Bagram Prison from the US forces to Afghan government reported back to the President early this evening on their findings.
The fact finding team, made up of the Attorney General, deputy Minister of Defense and the chief military police commander in charge of Bagram prison, visited the Prison on Tuesday and met with the relevant American authorities.
The report presented to the President concluded that the MoU signed on the transfer of the Bagram prison to Afghan sovereignty has not been fully implemented by the Americans with instances of serious breach of the agreement noticed.
After hearing the report, the President ordered the following two points to ensure a full implementation of the MoU and the unconditional transfer of Bagram Prison to Afghanistan control:
1. Urgent actions must be taken to set free all the inmates that need to be released as per Afghanistan applicable laws and the progress be reported back to the President on Thursday (Nov. 22, 2012).
2. All those who have been imprisoned by the Americans after the signing of the MoU and which stands contrary to its provisions, must be transferred to Afghan side without any delay.
