Kabul (BNA) The United Nations welcomes the announcement of the final results from the 2014 Provincial Councils’ Elections the other day. Preliminary results of the Provincial Councils’ elections held on April 5 were announced on May 20. The final results were initially delayed by the high volume of complaints submitted to the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) and further postponed by the electoral authorities due to their focus on the country’s presidential election. The United Nations congratulates all those individuals elected to office and acknowledges both the IEC and IECC for their commitment to deliver the final results of the Provincial Councils’ Elections as soon as possible.
