Joint Committee to Assess Violence Against Journalists

Kabul (BNA) A meeting of joint committee of media and government with second vice-President on the chair resolved that the issue of journalists and violence by some authorities against them should be assessed accurately, a statement said Tuesday.
The meeting discussed issues including the arrest of father and brother of Amirullah by Khost governor and journalist threat by Helmand governor as well as the rumor that Shapur Bakhtar, Tolotv reporter was targeted and injured, said a statement from the second vice-president office.
According to the deputy to publication minister of information and culture, print media are exempted of taxes and that the members of Journalists Fund has taken the first meeting and wanted to meet the country’s president after drafting the required plan.
Vice-President Mohammad Sarwar Danesh directed the deputy to publication affairs of the ministry for holding a joint meeting with the publication hoses, bookstores and in general book publishing centers’ entrepreneurs for the needed cooperation, the statement said.
