Peace Can’t Be Achieved Sans Ensuring Human Rights: CE

Kabul (BNA) The chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has linked achieving peace to ensuring human rights in the country and said, embracing peace in the absence of human rights is impossible.
Addressing a conference on “Future of Human Rights in Afghanistan” here yesterday the chief executive noted that peace is the utmost need of Afghans. However, he said that the peace must be lasting, fair and honorable. Dr. Abdullah noted that the government of national unity is committed to safeguard human rights in the country.
Meantime, the chief executive questioned police performances with regard to Farkhunda case and called for investigation. Addressing the conference, Seema Samar the chief of Afghanistan Human Rights Commission pointed out that still there is long way to ensure women rights in the country. However, she hailed the activities of civil society entities in strengthening human rights and developing democracy in the country.
