Gujjar Tribe’s Elders Call On President Karzai

Kabul (BNA) Elders of Gujjar tribe in a meeting with President Hamid Karzai here on Wednesday briefed him on challenges they face.
The Gujjar tribal elders have hailed from various provinces.
Qari Shamsulhaq Haqyar and Haji Mohammad Ayub while talking on behalf of others participants of the session urged the government to grant foreign scholarships to Gujjar youth, establish mobile clinics in areas where the tribe resides and to implement uplift projects in their respective areas.
They also demanded government job quotas.
President Karzai assured elders their problems will be discussed in next session of the Council of Ministers, in presence of their representatives.
“Like other tribes of Afghanistan you also have the right to come to the forth and serve your country,” the presidents said while addressing the Gujjar tribal elders.
President Karzai told the elders in bid to have a prosperous future they had to send their children to schools and higher education institutions.  The president also encouraged Gujjar tribe to take voting cards and cast their ballots for their favorite presidential candidates of their choice.
