Tuesday, April 19, 2016
PUL-E-ALAM(BNA) Logar governor Mohammad Halim Fidayee says that casualties among civilians and security forces reduced in central Logar province where the security situation has improved compared to the previous year.
Speaking during a press conference, the governor said that Logar’s security improved during the past one year due to security forces’ strong resistance against insurgent attacks and increased coordination among security organs and people’s cooperation with them.
Governor Fidayee said the rebels carried out a total of 163 attacks during the past one year in Logar compared to the previous year’s 363 attacks, resulting in reduced casualties among security forces and civilians. “Taliban relying on propaganda than facing the country’s security forces,” he said, adding 13 Taliban fighters had been killed, eight others detained and several more injured during the past one month in the province. Up to 850 acres of land had been reclaimed from its illegal occupants during the year, the governor said. Meanwhile, provincial council secretary Huma Ahmadi called on militants to shun violence and join the peace process.
