Parliamentary Elections Urgent Need of Afghanistan: EU

Kabul (BNA) The EU authorities said the holding of parliamentary election is an urgent need of Afghanistan future.
They emphasized that it is important that the Afghan people want to witness holding of election. The EU Special envoy for Afghanistan Micheal Miliben said that the issue of parliamentary election is a long process and it’s really needed to specify the course of this election. The Afghan president had emphasized in Brussels conference that up on his return home, holding of election would be at the pivot of his programs. At the same time while emphasize on punishment of individuals accused in fraud in election, CE Abdullh said, “Still a lot of works to be done for reforms of electoral system and efforts are underway to bring reforms in this system. Addressing bringing reforms in electoral commissions as an urgent issue for holding of a sound parliamentary election, a number of election observers’ bodies and civil society asked the government to take practical steps for this purpose.
The first step for commencement of reforms is formation of electoral commission that should be taken by the government soon. They emphasize that the law on organization and authorities of electoral commission Parliamentary elections urgent need of Afghanistan: EU should change new commissions should be appointed so the Afghan people could trust upcoming election. Anim Ayoubzada chief of FEFA called reforms in electoral system for holding of election affective, said “The Afghan people no longer trust the electoral commissions. He added, “Fraud in the last presidential and provincial councils elections had caused reduction and damaging of the people trust to electoral bodies. He emphasized that the electoral commissions should be accountable to the people and lawmakers. A mechanism should be established to prevent interference of local authorities, powerful armed men in the election. Political commentator Akbar Ehsas said, “The 2014 election was one of the most controversial elections in our history that as a result of mediation of US Secretary of States the NUG was formed. Now we hope to witness reforms and rehabilitate the lost trust of the Afghan people.
Amir Mohammad another political analyst believes that lack of precise data on voters was one of the most important issues and these claims that in some districts there were more ballots than the real number of eligible voters. So preparing the list of voters would be a solution to part of election problems in short term but the EIDs should be distributed as soon as possible to prevent fraud in upcoming elections. Changes of electoral system also could be one of the reforms that can improve people trust
