Bagram Jail Handover To Be Taken Place In Special Ceremony

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai chaired the meeting of National Security Council at the Presidential palace, his office said yesterday.
The meeting discussed transfer of the Bagram prison to the sovereignty to Afghanistan and adopted the decision for preparations of the ceremony which will take place, March 25, 2013 in a special ceremony.
General Bismellah Mohammadi Minister of National Defense informed the meeting over the vacation of Maidan-Wardak by the Coalition Special Forces and said that in accordance with the security needs, a plan for deployment of forces is being prepared with the withdrawal of the Special Forces from the Nerkh district, the Afghan security forces will be deployed there.
General Jozif Danford NATO General Commander who was invited at the meeting assured the National Security Council that he will act in accordance with the decision of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as he will withdrawal the Special Forces from the Nerkh district of Maidan-Wardak.
The meeting also instructed the ministries of National defense, Interior affairs and the National Security Department so that Afghan security forces are deployed in the district to serve the people.
The officials of the ministries of national defense, interior affairs, and national security department presented their reports with respect to general security situation in the country and called the security conditions as satisfactory.
The meeting in order to ensure better security advised necessary measures for ensuring the security of the district.
At the end the meeting discussed the issue of ensuring better security on the day of declaring the Ghazni city as the world cultural capital of Islamic countries and the Ghazni festival and instructed interior ministry and national security department with cooperation of Ministry of Information and Culture to adopt necessary measures to ensure security in the city.
