Coal Contraband to Abroad is Not True:MoF

KABUL (BNA) Ministry of Finance is rejecting allegations circling by some foreign media outlets about coal contraband out of the country.

Some foreign media outlets have shouted about the recent increase of coal contraband from Afghanistan’s to neighboring countries.

They have claimed that “Every day, dozens of trucks cross the border without any product and are sold cheaply in the neighboring country.”

But the ministry of finance of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan rejected the alligation made by foreign media oultets, in a statement.

The ministry has assured that all border customs and ports of Afghanistan are under the strict supervision of customs officials and they will not allow anyone, including security officials, to contraband goods from Afghanistan to neighboring countries. Or transferred to Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Finance has also said that some customs inspectors have repeatedly seized illegal and contrabanded goods and handed over to lawbreaker.

Based on ministry statement, Since the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan came to ruling in the country, there has been a significant increase in national revenue compared to last year.

The customs value of coal exports from September to Apirl 1.2 billion Afs, of which the revenue collected is 244 million Afs.

While the customs value of the coal exported from September 1 to the end of the year is 16.3 billion Afs and the revenue from it reaches Afs 3.9 billion. Add the statement.

last year’s coal exports reached 4003 tonnes and this year it will reach 1.8 million tonnes. Said reports.

Coal exports account for a large portion of the Ministry of Finance’s national revenue, which goes to the state treasury.
