Kabul (BNA) There are reports that president Ghani in a telephone call with Mullana Samiuhaq the leader of Pakistan’s Scholars Association shared with him the process of peace with Taliban.
According to BNA, Omer Zakhailwal the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan has recently announced that Afghan president has visited the leader of Pakistani Scholars Association and discussed with him peace process in Afghanistan. He has also confirmed that President Ghani had talked Mr. Samiuhaq via telephone. Mullana Samiulhaq is running several seminaries in tribal areas and other big Pakistani cities. Most of Taliban leaders have graduated from these seminaries. Taliban in their first move started recruiting from Haqania Seminaries. Afghan political experts and members of parliament have reflected differently regarding the contacts of Afghan authorities with Mullana Samiulhaq, some consider the contacts effective in bringing Taliban to negotiation table because he has a great influence on Taliban. Whereas, some consider such contacts just losing time, because the figures like Mullana Samiulhaq and Mullana Fiazulrahman are political figures who are active within the frame of political parties.
A number of political experts and members of parliament say that Mullana talking with President Ghani quoting Taliban has insisted that until the foreign forces exist in Afghanistan peace talks would have no any meaning. This indicates that Mullana Samiulhaq instead of being a true and honest mediator, support Taliban position and defend them. Therefore, holding talks with him will have no any benefit. Ahmad Sayed an expert of political affairs is among those, who consider the personalities like Mullana Samiulhaq not effectiveness in peace process in Afghanistan.
Ahamd Sayed says Pakistanis always in order to cease Afghan security forces anti-Taliban operations in winter, talk about peace, and peace talks, but by coming Spring Taliban step up their terrorist attacks. He considers such contacts for just stopping Afghan security forces operations against Taliban, not more than that. The talks should be hold between Afghan opposed sides in order to bring a positive result, otherwise, using the personalities, as Mullana Samiulhaq will lead to any result. However, some others consider using Pakistani political and religious figures in Afghan peace process effective and important. Nazir Ahmadzay a member of representative house of parliament believes contacts with Mullana Samiulhaq is a good move, because most of Taliban leaders have graduated from seminaries run by him and he has great influence on Taliban. Therefore, the role of Mullana Samiulhaq could be effective in bringing Taliban in to negotiation table with Afghan government.
It should pointed out that Afghan authorities since a long time are trying to use Pakistanis role in settling the crisis in Afghanistan, but so far have not produced any positive result. Afghans and some other countries consider Taliban as a means, Pakistan use them as soldiers in launching proxy wars against its rival countries.
