KABUL (BNA) Acting Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Minister on Wednesday discussed in a meeting with Richard Trenchard, Food and Agriculture Organization representative of the United Nations (FAO) in Afghanistan.
A statement from the ministry received by BNA informed that Mawlawi Abdul Rahman Rashid praising the organization’s mission in Afghanistan assured him of the security thoroughly of the country.
He assured the UN Food and Agriculture Organization representative that they could continue their mission across the country without any security tensions.
During the meeting, Minister Rashid sought the organization’s cooperation with the ministry in the sectors of capacity building, chemical fertilizer distribution, seeds, spices, and drought control.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations reiterated its commitment to the Afghan people, saying that its mission is to address the problems of the people, as well as humanitarian, capacity building, and constructive advice around the world.
“Afghanistan’s economic future depends on the development of agriculture, and we are ready to support the peasantry and cooperate in this regard.” He added.
Earlier, several countries in the world had assured officials of the Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Ministry of cooperation with Afghanistan’s agricultural sector.
