Second Round of Partial Votes’ Results Announced

Kabul (BNA) The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced the second partial results of the presidential elections results late on Sunday.
IEC Chief, Dr. Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani announced 49.67 percent of some 3,456,910 votes putting Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in the lead.
Dr. Abdullah won one million and 536,100 votes securing 44.4 percent of the votes, while Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai stood in the second position with 33.2 percent and winning one million 146,251votes and Zalmai Rassoul remained third with 357,930 and 10.4 percent of the counted votes.
Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf, with 240,014 took 7.6 percent and fourth position Qotbuddin Helal with 94,556 votes secured 2.7 percent and stood in fifth position, Mohammad Shafiq Gul Agha Sherzoi, with 55,787 votes secured 1.6 percent and sixth position, Daud Sultanzoi, with 16, 208 votes 0.5 percent lodged in seventh position and Hedayat Amin Arsala with 8,368 votes and 0.2 percent of the votes in the eighth position.
Nuristani said the election results could change as counting continues and insisted that this was not the final results.
He insisted that the announcement of nearly 50 percent of vote results does not mean that half of the votes all provinces have been counted. The primary results of the elections would be announced on April 24 and the final results on May 14 this year.
