VP Saleh Praises Switzerland Supports for Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) The First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Amrullah Saleh met with Ambassador of the Switzerland Confederation to Afghanistan and Pakistan, here in his office yesterday morning.

The two sides discussed peace talks and the current situation in the country, according press office of the first Vice President.

VP Amrullah Saleh expressed the government’s firm position in the peace talks, saying that elections and a nationwide ceasefire are two important principles on the agenda of the Afghan government’s negotiating team. Regarding the activities of NGOs, the First Vice President, as quoted in the statement, stated to the Swiss Ambassador that the way forward for NGOs in developing meaningful relations with the Government of Afghanistan is their accountability in providing services and their fair performance in all regions and provinces of the country.

The first Vice President also praised Switzerland for its assistance to the Afghan people, especially at the 2020 Afghanistan conference.

The Switzerland ambassador said that his country was one of the few countries that pledged its assistance for the next four years instead of one year at the 2020 Afghanistan conference.

He also noted that the country’s assistance to Afghanistan focused on the areas of education, agriculture, natural resources, security and law enforcement.
